Department of Orthopaedics and Traumatology, Prince of Wales Hospital, Faculty of Medicine, CUHK
The Sport Performance and Biomechanics Laboratory was established in December 2008.
It affiliates with The Hong Kong Jockey Club Sports Medicine and Health Sciences Center as the Sports Biomechanics and Automation Engineering Unit, and Department of Orthopaedics and Traumatology of Faculty of Medicine, The Chinese University of Hong Kong.
It houses a variety of advanced physiology and biomechanics equipments for research, education and clinical services.
Our research focuses on sport performance and biomechanics, orthopaedic sport medicine, injury prevention, and biomedical engineering. We develop and utilize various biomechanics techniques in
(1) understanding sport injury
(2) preventing sport injury
(3) evaluating the treatment to sport injury and
(4) designing innovative products to enhance sport performance and participation.
Currently we have three major research themes:
(1)Ankle ligamentous sprain -
(2)Anterior cruciate ligament – injury mechanism analysis, surgical outcome evaluation and prevention
(3)Rehabilitation technology and biomedical engineering
